Harriers, for many, is the quintessential sailing holiday. For others, it isn't. But whether your first memories of sailing begin with the sound of water lapping gently against the side of a boat on a summer night, the faint snoring of your skipper in the forepeak just enough to keep you awake, or whether that first time you tottered along the side of a Wood boat with a quant pole haunts you to this day, Harriers still remains one of the cruises featured on these pages. What is Harriers?
Harriers is a Christian sailing holiday run by Scripture Union on the Norfolk Broads. Each day the crews sail traditional Broads cabin yachts to a new mooring where they will spend the night sleeping on the boats. Every boat has a mate and a skipper who are both experienced and qualified sailors. Young people are taught the basics of sailing and have the opportunity to learn more about God in Quiet times and Cabin clubs. At the end of each day the crews meet together for Logs and Shanties where many songs are sung and tall tales told of the days exploits.
