The Sailing Song
Introduction (traditionally sung by Alan or Neville in a high pitched voice)
Let's start at the very beginining.
The boats are the places to start.
When yo swim, you can learn that in the sea.
But to sail on the Norfolk Broads you should be.
On the Norfolk Broads you should be.
(spoken) Look, this will make it easier for you.
SAILS, the canvas in your boat.
HALYARDS, pull them up the mast.
SHEETS, another name for ropes.
RONDS are anchors to make fast.
GYBES, the boom swings too and fro.
HELM, to guide the boat along.
WIND, and then you need not row.
And now you know the sailing song.
(Repeat from SAILS, several times!)
