Craig has biscuits. There were a lot of biscuits this year. Except for one day... one dark, terrible day.
Gareth and crew paddle Chestnut (?) skilfully in to moor after coming through Potter bridge, while Tristan looks on from the bank. Quite what Gareth's pointing at isn't clear.
First-time Mallards team Katie demanded that proof be posted here that she was on a boat this week, so we're happy to oblige. It appears that she's just single-handedly lowered the mast. Gareth and crew examine the devastation carefully. Tristan looks on from the bank.
Don't try this at home, kids! No, seriously. Mallards does not condone the tying up of mates by crew, unless a) in case of extreme weather, or b) if they really deserve it. The crew of Hustler 4/2 teach Andy not to fall asleep on the cabin roof again. Their knots were surprisingly effective.
Moored up at 'the bit of hard bank just before Horsey' for lunch, the Mallards take time to relax and... er, do a synchronised dance? Tim stands in the middle looking blank.
Yes, it IS possible to fit a fully grown member of team into the front locker of Woodcut 2. But can they get out again? Peter (finger) attempts it, Simon looks on doubtfully. (Potentially dangerous activity carefully supervised by SU representative)
Not to be outdone, Sam proves it's possible to fit into the stern locker, thereby probably contravening several health and safety guidelines. Needless to say, we had to cut off one of his legs and most of his ears in order to remove him, and as you can see, it hurt a LOT. This practice has now been banned on camp.
Mooring at Whispering Reeds this year was... interesting. Bit of a squeeze, you could call it. Jon gets into the Mallards spirit by bestriding two boats while holding a bow line wrapped around a forestay and someone else's shroud. Nice.
Meanwhile, the boy-eez on 'da bank (Tom, Lewis, Charles, Ash, and Jonny) show how cool they are. Oh yes. It could be a boy band album cover, couldn't it?
Sam joins in the sand-based fun, but his effort is so much less elegant than Vicki's. The sunglasses are a nice touch, though.
